Don’t Let Learning Be a Chore! Primary Games Are Here to Help

Primary games are a fun, effective way to guide your child through that wonderful learning time that begins when they’re a toddler and lasts through childhood. Kids may not think of a structured setting for “learning” as fun, but they certainly think games are. Don’t fight that; use it to your advantage! Games can teach as well, or better, than the average teacher so unleash the power of fun!

Elsewhere, we’ve suggested several cool math games for that precocious tot, but let’s not forget about all of those other essential skills that need developing! Primary games run the breadth of subjects for kids, so whatever they’re ready to learn, you can be ready to teach them. Is your child just not interested yet in math? Maybe your child is showing more interest in words, or visual arts. Perhaps they’ve mastered one area and are ready to move to something else.

A learning child shouldn’t be stuck in a rut, so be sure to have a stash of primary games ready to exercise the body, the mind, or the imagination.

Exercise the Body

Get up and move! It can be as simple as a rainbow ribbon to remember the Olympics, or as sporty as a starter lacrosse set to get ready for more advanced athletics. Primary games can be about more than just boards and cards; they can help your child profit from the boundless energy of youth!

Stimulate the Mind

Brains need exercise to develop properly, much like the body does. But just as physical exercise starts with small steps, our primary games are the perfect stepping stones to a healthy, sharp mind. Learn shapes and colors with Pattern Play Blocks, sharpen visual memory skills with the I Spy Memory Game, even learn first words with the First Words Game.

Stretch the Imagination

Sometimes, learning is as fun and easy as…well, having fun! Let your child’s imagination roam free with primary games that let them become a fairytale princess or learn to perform like a star for their friends. Or even release their visual imagination with the classic Etch a Sketch! Maybe you’ve noticed your child has a natural inclination for building, you can cultivate that interest with a set of Tinker Toys or Magna Tiles.
