Winter Blues

By Heather Bishara

Just about this time each year my family gets a serious case of the winter blues. I can’t tell if it is the cold weather, the fact that it’s dark at 5pm or just that we’ve finally come down from our holiday high, but it seems that the end of January is a challenging time for us all.

I wish we could take a great vacation but it’s just not in the budget. Instead, I thought I would try to find a few things for the kids (and me!) that would lift our spirits and put us in that vacation mood. Check out what I found at Kazoo Toys:

1.      Moon Sand Starter Set by Moon Sand

I’ve never owned a Moon Sand set but I hear they are great fun! The sand is soft and squishy yet it does not dry out like other molding materials. You can bake it to harden your kid’s projects, then bake it again to soften the material and start over. It also comes with an 8-piece castle mold set, is nontoxic and doesn’t stain.

2.      Magnetic Sand Bug Life Table by Anatex

This is probably the most interesting sand toy I’ve seen in a long time. The ladybugs, spiders, flies, bees, scorpions and ants come to life with magnetic wands on the bottom of the table that move them through the sand. This will hold my boys attention for along time as they try to manipulate the magnets and move the bugs through the sand tracks.

3. My Little Sandbox Pirates Ahoy by BE Good Company

My two boys love anything with pirates and the fact that this pirate set comes in a little sand box is icing on the cake. Complete with one pirate for each of my boys, they will love creating swash buckling adventures with the ship, treasure chest, X to “mark” the spot, crocodile, shovel and rake, and more.

So if you’re experiencing the winter blues like we are, be sure to check out these and other sand toys at Kazoo Toys to get your spirits lifted… I know I can already feel the warm sun and sand between my toes!
